Yesterday, I took a leisurely drive down to Iowa City to install my show. I had a little set back with getting my rental, so I decided to just bite the bullet and plunk down the money to fix my own car. Little Blue is back! The engine light is off and now I can get this show on the road. I like driving through Iowa. Even though there is still snow on the ground, the landscape is very pleasing. Grant Wood captured the rolling hills in his paintings so well. Iowa City is only 4 hours away, so as long as you have some great music to listen to, it’s a nice drive. I didn’t spend a lot of time there once I arrived. I just pretty much installed my work and got back on the road home. The space is underground and is kind of raw, but my girls look good. After I hung the work and was going to my car, I noticed that the metaphysical store I used to work at while I lived there had closed. I was the jewelry buyer and boy did I spend a chunk of my pay on some great stuff! I also noticed that there wasn’t a lot of people around. I think the students are on Spring Break. The closing reception for the exhibit is in a few weeks, so I’ll come back for it, spend the night and take my time getting back to Omaha. I haven’t been to the Des Moines Art Center in a long time, so I plan to stop by and see what’s new there.
